Are you ready to create a shift?

Hey, Reader

Since turning 50 a few years ago, I’ve been doing a lot of reflecting. A small midlife check-in.

For me, it’s not just about where I’ve been, but who I’m becoming in the next 50. What now feels like the past? What skin am I shedding? Who do I feel like now, and how do I shift into that?

I’ve also been noticing and confronting a lot of the little ways I self-sabotage. One of those is through food. Interrupting those patterns has been a relief. I love a good self-awareness jolt.

What I need now is different than it was in my 20s and 30s. So are some of the things I enjoy, how I spend my time, what I’m willing to tolerate, and what I’m no longer interested in carrying.

Now, that’s hardly a mind-altering revelation. We all change. Sometimes the transition is bumpy. For others, it’s downright frightening and disorienting. And our old beliefs, identities, and emotional patterns don’t necessarily change along with us. They can remain as energetic and emotional imprints, or what some people refer to as “muscle memory.”

Apparently, not everything gets the memo.

We can step into an entirely new season of life while some older part of us still operates from a story we picked up 10, 20, or 30 years ago.

I have to hold everything together.

It’s my job to keep everyone happy.

I’m too much.

I’m not ready.

I don't feel safe in my body.

This is just who I am.

Some of those beliefs are obvious. Others run quietly in the background and then one day play peek-a-boo. Surprise! Why is THAT still here? Why does this still feel true?

There’s also general crapola we’ve been through that still resurfaces from time to time. The relationship pattern. The mental loop. That one thing you keep saying you're over until something pokes it and, nope, apparently it still has a pulse.

You know you want to let it go. But it hasn't been as simple as saying “just let it go.". If so, you would’ve done it already.

This year, I hosted two small group half-day nervous system retreats at my home for women, The Deep Exhale.

We explored safety in the body through vagal nervous system education, somatic exercises, and guided energetic shifting work. We laughed. We ate. We learned some things. We let go of some shit!

Those were fun and refreshing afternoons of resetting and reclaiming.

One part of the retreat gave each woman an opportunity to work through a specific problem that had been taking up emotional and energetic space in her life.

But ... one session can only take us so far.

I really wanted to create room to dig deeper and keep going. To work through not only the problems that keep resurfacing, but also the beliefs, identities, values, stories, and patterns underneath them. I also wanted to reach and bring more value and resources to even more women.

So I took that portion of the retreat, brought it online, and expanded it into:

The Deep Exhale: Shifting Sessions

An eight-week, small-group online healing experience for women focused on detoxing energetic and emotional baggage. Lightening the mental burdens.

(Sorry, gents. This one’s for the ladies.)

Choose from two group options beginning Thursday, September 24, or Saturday, September 26. We’ll meet online from home over eight weeks.

Personally, I’d rather bring a yummy homemade side dish at the holiday gatherings instead of every unresolved feeling I’ve ever had. 😎

Let’s shed some stuff before we gather more material this season.

The Deep Exhale, Shifting Sessions start in a couple weeks. 🎤 Find out more | 🙅 No more emails about it Heya, Reader My last couple of emails have included words like releasing problems, old beliefs, identities, patterns and shifting. Yes, I know. These are massive stereotypical buzzwords in coaching and wellness right now. I’ve watched plenty of these words trend over the decades. I remember when mindfulness was on practically every magazine at the Whole (paycheck) Foods checkout aisle. Be...
